UPDATE: What Does HB809 Was Taken Off Calendar Mean?

Congratulations! HB809 was “Taken off notice for cal. in Judiciary Committee”

What it means: A bill scheduled for a committee or floor vote is pulled from that list (calendar) by the sponsor or chair.
Why it happens: To make technical changes (amendments), avoid a vote, or because it lacks support.
Outcome: The bill doesn’t automatically die but needs to be re-introduced or brought back to the calendar; if not, it often effectively dies for that session.

We still  need to be vigilant in case they try to sneak it back in. The people of Tennessee  spoke loudly and we are winning! It only takes a loud, vigilant few to make a difference!

Urgent Action Needed: Oppose HB809

Take Action By January 21st: will go to Leg. Cmte on Jan. 21 for vote.

This bill will grant immunity for pesticide and chemical manufacturers to protect them from civil action against them if their product causes harm. This grants de-facto immunity to pesticide manufacurers for over 57,000 pesticide products AND all future pesticides.

The bill strips Tennesseans of their right to a trial, and instead prioritizes FOREIGN companies’ profits, giving them protection so they don’t have to pay out when their products cause disease such as cancer, Parkinson’s or infertility. Why would the Judiciary Committee shield foreign corporations from accountability when they harm Tennesseans?

Furthermore, the Garrett amendment does NOT fix HB 809, this is a lie. This amendment is still written by these manufacturer’s lawyers, that’s why they want it. Click HERE for bill

Send emails to the bill sponsors (asking them to withdraw the bill):

AND Write to the Judiciary Committee as this bill violates the constitutional right of Tennesseans to ask for redress of grievances:
